Wasteland? No vegetation. Trying to get away from the area. But why?

   I was in a desolate land.  A wasteland of sorts.   We were to leave the area.  Don't remember why.  My kids ran ahead of me and I was alone struggling to get down the layers of mountain range on my own.

THE WORD "ALERT" POPPING UP MULTIPLE TIMES FROM A POINT IN NORTH CA TO MID CA!

         Had a dream that had to do many young people all playing some sort of Chess challenge were at my home and they were everywhere ... outside and inside.  Two young adults to a table, and then they would swap when the games ended, and keep playing.  My kids were involved.  I saw my son and my youngest daughter.

         Suddenly, on my phone, I saw a map design of California, and words began popping up from Northern CA (a specific point and it spanned out like a triangle form, spreading) going downward towards mid CA, did not seem to reach Southern CA.  The word was ALERT!  like a blast each word popped. These words would disappear and then repeat again and again, North to South.  I felt like an outage was about to take place.  

        So, I ran down the hall of my home and into my son's room uptight and crying out that an outage was happening.  I was certain of it, but all the kids seemed calm.  One of my son's childhood friends came up to me with a smile and said I had won the lottery of having so many online at once. Something like that ...I don't remember his exact wording.  

        Then it ended.
